UTCA has scheduled a Saturday morning seminar for Feb. 8, 2020, for your field personnel regarding OSHA’s Subpart “P” Trenching Regulations. This session will educate your staff concerning the requirements of a “competent person”, soils classifications and trench safety requirements as noted in OSHA’s Subpart “P” Trenching Regulations.
It is important to note that New Jersey contains several different soil classifications throughout the state. Our topography ranges from “Type A”, solid rock in northern New Jersey, to “Type C”, sand, loamy sand and submerged soils found all around the state. These different conditions require levels of shoring protection. This seminar will clarify all regulations as well as explain how to safely work around trenches.
OSHA has been strictly enforcing these trench safety requirements and non-compliance can result in large financial penalties for employers who do not properly implement these regulations. Those who complete the seminar will receive a wallet-sized certificate of attendance for their use. For those who may have completed this seminar, it is recommended that the training be repeated every three years.
The seminar will be held at the UTCA Conference Center in Farmingdale, New Jersey. Please contact Dan Neville at (732) 292-4300 with any questions you may have regarding this safety training program.
